DAMAGE: $76 thousand in estimated damage. CAUSE: The cause was ruled accidental by HFD Arson investigators. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Firefighters arrived on scene within five minutes of being dispatched and found fire coming from the corner of a 2-story quad-plex. Flames were obvious from the group up the siding to the roof line. Heavy smoke was coming from the roof and soffits as well. The crews began an offensive attack and ventilated the roof. A primary search was completed of the remaining three units and three dogs were rescued with another dog found deceased due to smoke inhalation. Crews checked for extension, none was found, and conducted smoke removal. They extinguished the fire which also involved the roof and requested HFD Arson investigators to determine the cause and origin. Firefighters from Stations 2, 4, 5, 49, 50, 77, 57, Rehab and the Village Fire Department responded to this incident.
