Police Chief Acevedo, Commanders to Welcome Citizens to HPD Family

At 6 p.m. TODAY (Wednesday, May 8), Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo and commanders will welcome to the HPD family numerous citizens graduating from HPD’s Citizens’ Police Academy.

The graduation ceremonies will be held at the Houston Police Academy L.D. Morrison, Sr. Memorial Center, 17000 Aldine Westfield Road.

The graduates have spent the past 10 weeks learning how HPD officers handle investigations, patrols and dangerous situations.

The Citizens’ Police Academy, in its 30th year (organized in 1989), is designed to give citizens from all walks of life a working knowledge of how HPD operates, and stresses the importance of their involvement in preventing and fighting crime in their neighborhoods.
