Houston Public Library to Host Two Back to School Events

The Houston Public Library (HPL) is hosting two Back-to-School celebrations to help parents and kids get ready for the new school year. Both events will be free and open to the public.

The Back-to-School celebrations will be happening at the following HPL library locations:

Tech Connect
Saturday, August 20, 2016 | 10 AM – 2 PM
Tuttle Neighborhood Library | 702 Kress, 77020 | 832-393-2100

Houston’s District H City Council Member Karla Cisneros will be hosting a Tech Connect Event. There will be plenty of fun and entertainment, and students will be provided with free backpacks, they can enjoy coding workshops, use the library’s internet service and much more.

Family F.U.N. Day
Saturday, August 20, 2016 | 10 AM – 2 PM

Carnegie Neighborhood Library and Center for Learning | 1050 Quitman, 77009 | 832-393-1720

Join the Library for a day full of fun for the entire family hosted by the Star of Hope! This event will feature information on health and wellness, adult and family literacy, college readiness, and fitness. There will be free food, backpacks, school supplies, and many door prizes.  Kids will also have fun playing games and winning prizes.  This event is sponsored by Star of Hope Mission, Citgo, Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and a Thin Blue Line Foundation. 

Star of Hope Mission is a non-profit founded in Houston in 1907 and dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless men, women and their children.
