Read or Listen to Books for Free on Your Electronic Devices 24/7
HOUSTON – Explore and experience the Houston Public Library’s (HPL) new OverDrive (houstonlibrary.overdrive.com/) website to find more extensive selections of digital books. In OverDrive customers have access to a wide selection of popular digital e-books and e-audiobooks for their reading or listening pleasure. Best of all, this resource is free with HPL’s MY Link library card. Customers can easily browse through HPL’s extensive digital collection, and if the book title is available, they can borrow it and instantly start reading or listening to it. For more information on this new digital resource service, visit: OverDrive FAQs (houstonlibrary.org/find-it/e-books-more/digital-content-faqs) online or call 832-393-1313.
If all book copies are checked out, customers can place the title on hold. It’s a very convenient service. All e-books and e-audiobook titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period, and the good news is that there are no late fees. OverDrive is compatible with all major electronic devices such as computers, phones, and tablets.
HPL’s OverDrive (houstonlibrary.overdrive.com/) collection offers e-books and e-audiobooks including bestsellers and new releases in a variety of topics. Readers of all ages can select from every subject ranging from mystery, romance, business, children’s selections, and more. Customers can check out e-books and e-audiobooks for up to 14 days and can get up to 15 checkouts and 10 holds at a time.
MY Link library card holders that were registered on the Houston Area Digital Media Catalog collection website have been automatically transferred to the new HPL OverDrive (houstonlibrary.overdrive.com/) website. Houston Independent School District (HISD) and Alief Independent School District (AISD) Learning Link (houstonlibrary.org/learninglink) cardholders have also been transferred to the new HPL OverDrive (houstonlibrary.overdrive.com) website. Customers can continue to log in with their MY Link card number and PIN number.
